Sonnet 4 Salty Springs

“It’s fun,” we say. But parents cannot hear.
They moan that it’s addictive all the same,
But why can’t they just let us disappear
Into the magic wonders of this game?
We love you, love you, love you, oh so much
And love to see you having so much fun,
But can’t you see you’re somehow losing touch
With real life; and the sorrows of the gun?
Remember what you feel when you've been killed,
The anger, rage and sadness in your brain.
The way you think your dreams will be fulfilled
The second you press ‘PLAY’ and start again.
Addiction poisons both the poor and kings
Alike they die who drink from Salty Springs.
